Re: Drawings and other Art

Thanks HoldingOurOwn and Squid for giving some ideas. While I think I could stand to try to improve, when I'm in the mood to draw I mostly just like to doodle.

Re: Drawings and other Art

So my family rewatched The Adventures of Tintin the other day and I realized that the particular frame I drew doesn't actually appear in the movie. Possibly a trailer shot? In the whole scene on the boat (in the film) Snowy is on the other side of the boat - next to Tintin. mini/tongue

Anyways, here's a new project I finished (I've been wanting to do it for a while, and finally got the motivation to finish it before my graduation so I could show it off to people as a sort of senior project xD ).

Thanks!

I drew some more of the main characters from Riigo-Faloo:

Sur Jargon is a cat knight specializing in unarmed combat, and good friend of Bliit, who I've drawn previously.

Feblin Wizik is  a gnome wizard who usually serves as an advisor to nobility on maters of magical nature.  She is a colleague of Riddlestack and an expert in conjuring objects from magical energy with realistic detail.

That's pretty good Vertigo. I like the amount of detail you put into him. The title is funny too.

Really detailed!  The colour of his "muscly bits" is a bit off, but other than that it's really accurate.

Re: Drawings and other Art

So, I'm not that great of an artist, but I was experimenting with a really simple cartoony style and I decided to draw this. It was basically on a whim, but I really like how it came out. It's based on the Avatar: The Last Airbender show.

Re: Drawings and other Art

way cool.  I've been doing some art for a fantasy card game me and a few others are creating, and we're trying to give it a homemade feel.  So we're trying to aim for a "artistically skilled but undisciplined" look.

Re: Drawings and other Art

I'v ebeen uploading my band Tinnitis' music anthology, including the album art.  So I'd share a few of the ones that were posted recently.

The first here is the cover to the TANJ!! CD single.  I love the boldness of pen & ink, my favorite medium, tied for first with pencils.  Great for cartoony art like this.

Here's another: More Than Meets The Ears.  It's an entire album of song parodies about Transformers.  This is a colored pencil work which I labored 10 hours to create.

please enjoy them

Re: Drawings and other Art

For the most part, the lamp's geometry is well done, Mighty Wanderer. The perspective lines are very convincing of the thing's depth. However, there are a few details such as the top knob is tilted slightly, as is the pole on the bottom. Also, the bolt on the top right corner could be more pronounced, as it is lost in the darkness of the background. In fact, that is a very noticeable flaw in this piece. The separation between foreground and background is hardly striking. It's difficult to tell exactly what is what. So while the lantern itself is pretty well depicted (lines, shape, color, and tint/shade detail), the piece as a whole is lost a little in the scramble to figure out what is going on. I think if there was the same amount of attention to detail in the background as there was in the lantern it would have been more solid of a final product. All of that being said, I like the play of color in the sky. It's kind of dreamy and vague and I personally really like looking at it.

This is a good painting and I look forward to seeing more.

Re: Drawings and other Art

Mint!  I love this kind of composition.

The semester I took photography in college, strong winds did damage across the campus.  One lamp, much like the one you sketched here, bent at about the angle you tilted it.  I decided to photograph it at an angle so that the lamp stood perfectly straight, and the rest of the world was at the angle you have.  My professor called it "striking".

Re: Drawings and other Art

Great stuff, MightyWanderer. The lamppost itself looks really nice; the highlights in particular are fantastic. Is this all watercolor or is there marker/ink in there? Super impressive control.
