Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Wow! I never knew about this thread! Definitely going to have to show some of mine sometime, maybe my WW1 soldiers for one of the brickfilms I'm currently working on. Anyway, on the topic of the new set of minifigures, the ones I want to get are the dwarf, elf and retro space lookin' dude. I also really want the blue tray, I could think of a really good way of using it mini/wink

EDIT: The surfer guy kinda looks like me when I'm bodyboarding mini/lol

I'm so glad that I bumped this thread. mini/smile  May the forth is coming soon so you might want to show off your best star wars figures.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I did actually make some custom Star Wars aliens for a (now disbanded) project. I knew I had kept them for a reason! mini/smile

Captain Melon, a skin for a Minecraft animation. The head is a melon piece from "The Melon Farm 21138". The torso and legs are from "Plant Monster" from minifigures series 14. The red cape is from "Squidman Escape 5969-1".

Very nice, reminds me of those square watermelons that I guess are a big gimmick in Japan

Okay so I have this character design and I can't decide which I like better.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

That's a toughie, Super_Squid. I, too, like both.

The one on the left (white accents) seems a little more "classic spaceman," and overall, seems brighter (could have been lighting, but is face is more easily visible.

The one on the right (blue accents) has a bit more flair about him (which isn't bad), and seems to better match the accents on the torso, but, is darker than the other one.

Honestly, I'm leaning a bit toward the blue one, but, might go with one or the other depending on what type of lighting the rest of the film will have to make things easier. If lighting will fluctuate a lot from scene to scene, then perhaps white - blue, while IMO just a tad better looking, could end up looking a bit too dark depending.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I think I'll end up using the blue one. I'm on the verge of finishing my current space video, so I wanted to put him in the post-credit scene and that was the only thing holding me back.
