Topic: SHAC 3 Results!
Firstly – a big thanks to all participants and entrants. Thanks again for making SHAC a success.
Secondly – here’s the live random draw video! (details below)
Drumroll please.
1st Place – Let’s Start From the Beginning…
By Arginnon
A delightfully artful entry that beautifully blended dramatic mystery and oddball hilarity. Story, presentation, animation, and characters were all top notch. Loved the subtle callbacks to Johnny Thunder too. Great entry!
2nd Place – Footsteps
By Shane Studios
Brilliant in execution, Footsteps is a wonderfully presented thriller, which utilizes action over dialogue, fits within a short running time, and ends on a lighthearted note. Perhaps the most well rounded entry!
3rd Place – Knighted Knights
By Panoramic Studios
Adventurous, cute, and nutty, Knighted Knights is an amazingly done film. Its narrative keeps the viewer on edge; never knowing what will come next. And the presentation, characterizations, and story make for an entertaining viewing.
4th Place – Brick 3004
By JO Co
Not many films capture unfolding uncertainty well, but Brick 3004 is one of the few that does. Perhaps most impressive is the limited toolset utilized to tell such an intriguing story. 1 minifig, 1 brick, and a mirror seem to be just about all that’s needed to hold our attention, reel us in, and make us speculate.
5th Place – The Blue Cave Ninja Monster
By Chaizin
Although brief, Blue Cave builds atmosphere well and delivers an unexpectedly twist ending. Perhaps the brevity and confusion only add to the hilarity and rewatchability of this entry!
6th Place – A Questionable Quest
By OneDouglas
A simplistic dialogue-driven film with reverence for alliteration, budding with wholeheartedness. It vibes like a Monty Python sketch, and is reminiscent of the ‘classic brickfilm,’ so commonly associated with the days of Brickfilms.com and the early THAC entries. A classic in its own right.
7th Place – A Tasty Failure
By BrickAnimator724
Mmm. Delicious. And definitely court martialable. But humorous and enjoyable to the last bite.
8th Place – Basically Lego Clue
By Aaron Alonso
A film to such a scale (detective interviewing multiple civilians around town) is not something many would even try to pull off for such a short timed contest (72 hours). However, Basically Lego Clue delivers. While carrying a humorous edge throughout, the ending showdown, mudsling, and conclusion really tie the film together in an enjoyable way! Great work.
9th Place – Suspecting Suspects
By megamovieman
Perhaps the most delicious of all! Suspecting Suspects is fun; plain and simple. The main character’s plot to slowly eliminate the other, obligated free sample patrons was quite funny – and the chef’s revenge was even more so.
First off, congrats to Arginnon, Shane, Panoramic, and OneDouglas, our random draw winner!
Because there were less than 10 entries this year, it has been decided that, in addition to the previously announced prizes (Shaq & sealed figures for the top 3 places & random draw – digital certificates for all) each of the 9 entrants will receive an additional sealed, collectable minifigure!
That’s right, everyone else will receive an additional collectable minifigure to their current prizes. (All get a digital certificate, as usual. 2 figs & Shaq for 1st Place, 2 figs for 2nd, 3rd, & random draw, and 1 fig for everyone else!)
Thanks for keeping SHAC alive, and I look forward to seeing you all again next year!
