The Christmas special was awful.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

The christmas special was a complete let down, in the adverts it looked quite cool.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

The Christmas special was ok. But I think their dragging out the whole Cyberman thing now, even know it's classic.

I think they should return to the mondasian(our universe)cybermen,and ditch the petes-world(alternate universe)cybermen. mini/madhead

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Yeah there are only so many variations they can use around the whole, slipping from one Universe into another. It is supposedly impossible now without ripping all the dimensions apart and yet they still find contrived ways around it. They need to leave the Cybermen and Daleks alone now for awhile and work on either new villains or use updated old ones from previous series.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Sontarans are awesome, they should use them again one time.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

mini/confused Excuse me while my mind boggles at some of the comments here.

Awful? Compared to last year definitely not. Disappointing? Only in the case of the gross under-use of the Cybershades (such wasted potential). And the Cybermen overused? I'm putting my foot down here - they haven't been in the series for over 2 years. That hardly constitutes overuse in my book. Yes, I'd like to see our universe Cybermen again, but these guys still blummin' terrify me (they terrify me more than the Borg ever did. At least you can come back from being Borg). And the way they were brought back fitted in with established canon and wasn't an ass pull in the slightest (it also actually gave a legitimate reason for the Daleks returning as well, instead of them appearing from nowhere and it having to be explained [again]).

I also can't understand how any of you failed to be even slightly impressed by the dirty great steampunk Cyberman rampaging through Victorian London. That was quite possibly the most awesome thing I've seen on TV all year; if somewhat ridiculous, but I can see the logic behind it. Or the sight of all the Doctors in the infostamp.

I could carry on but this post would become a case of tl; dr. I'm curious to know exactly what you guys were expecting from it.

So as you can see, yes, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

I think the under-use of the cybershades is just so that they can squeeze another cybermen episode out of  the villain.
There will be a cybershade-centric episode.

Russel T Davies hinted that an old monster, the Nimon, would be returning.I've seen pics of them,it's gonna be hard to modernise them.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

*looks up Nimon* Oh I dunno, it's entirely possible to modernise them (but then, I do specialise in monsters and dragons as an artist, so my brain's already throwing a few ideas together *goes to find more pictures*).

Everyone I've spoken to so far who saw the episode thought exactly the same as me. It was such a stupid episode and way too far fetched.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the whole point of Doctor Who to be far-fetched and have things that are impossible and unbelievable happen? That's what makes it sci-fi/science fantasy. At least, those were the criteria last time I looked.

Now soap operas, those are far-fetched considering that they're set in the 'real world' (god, I hate that term).

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

Well tonight in about 10 minutes or so we all find out who the next Doctor is going to be. Tennant is going to be a very hard act to follow and whoever gets it, it won't be the same for me. I will still watch but I think a lot of the enjoyment will have gone from it. We shall see.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

He seems alright from those interviews. I guess we'll have to wait till 2010 to see how it goes.

That's what I thought about David Tennant when he was new.

Re: The Doctor Who Discussion thread(SPOILER ALERT!)

He is way to young, and when he frowns he has really big creases across his forehead - he's like a young Gordon Ramsey.

Doctor Who needs to be an older man, not some kid that looks like he is fresh out of Uni, he just doesn't look believable.
