Re: ToY: Secrets of the Lost Tomb

Great great great voice acting. I don't have time to watch all of the film, but the voice acting was spectacular. The animation could have used some work though.

Re: ToY: Secrets of the Lost Tomb

The voice acting was pretty good, and the set construction was nice as with most of your films. The animation was also rather smooth through out so no problems there. Your sphinx, although not to scale for obvious reasons lol, was a pretty good midi-scale reconstruction of the actual thing. The storyline was fairly engaging too. The only thing I really didnt like was the end though, it was far to abrupt and what could have been a creepy, eery scene was sort of killed off by music that didn't go and those mouth made sound effects.

Overall its a 4/5 for me. You did an excellent job all the way up until the very ending bit which I feel was rather lack-luster, but still a fantastic job.

Re: ToY: Secrets of the Lost Tomb

I thought that this was really good. The story reminded me of raiders a little, and being as that's one of my all time favourite films I found this very entertaining. The desert sets were lacking a bit, and I wasn't very keen on the bright yellow floor. Sand would have worked well here I think. I think that you have a good chance of placing high in this competition.

Oh, and by the way, is this actually based on a real story. It was good whatever, but I can't tell from the description if you're saying what happens in the film or what actually happened.
4/5.

Re: ToY: Secrets of the Lost Tomb

Sorry for the double post, internet messed up.

Re: ToY: Secrets of the Lost Tomb

That actually exceeded my expectations, well done. mini/smile Sure, the animation could have some improving, but the sets were very good and so was that camera movement in the beginning. Overall it's a very nice film, the only thing weird was that I spotted a green screen glitch at one point.
Anyway, great film. mini/bigsmile

Re: ToY: Secrets of the Lost Tomb

Thank you so much to all of you who watched this video. Ten minutes is a lot of time to devote to watching a brickfilm so I want to thank you for that.

I am most appreciative of those of you who provided comments and feedback. Thank you for taking the time for that as well.

Filmfire96 I agree on both the sand and the yellow floor. I did briefly consider using sand in the desert sets but due to the fact that I have to move my sets several times during production it wouldn't have worked for me. Perhaps someday when I have a 'dedicated' studio space... As for the yellow floor, it was a design decision. The only other possibility (in my mind) was using the tan bricks for the floor as well but I wanted some contrast between the floor and the walls. As for whether or not it is true - I was intentionally vague so the viewer would wonder...truth be told, the opening paragraph about Emile Baraize and his work on the Sphinx is completely true. I came up with the rest based on the fact that there were irregularities with the Sphinx head.

fireguy789 Thanks for your comments about the Sphinx set. I was worried that I would not be able to create an adequate representation. I was happy with how it turned out.

Again - thank you to all - I hope you enjoyed watching.

Re: ToY: Secrets of the Lost Tomb

Although the standards for egypt films have been raised much by mobdeli's 'Egyptian Holiday', Secrets of the Lost Tomb can compete with it.

The voice acting was the best part of the film, the characters had the voices they needed. The Set design was good, though basic. The Sfinx was really great though. The cinematography was basic and had only a few interesting angles (0.51 - 01.00; 09.52 - 09.55).

The story itself is good enough and should keep one interested, though I there were some problems with your way of storytelling. The film consists completely of dialogue and thus is the story completely dialogue-driven. This is annoying in live-action, even more in animation. The scenes consist of the same scheme: characters arrive - characters talk about what they discovered and are going to do - characters go to the next location. The scenes where they were flying to Egypt and riding the camels were a good exception from this pattern. Try to variate in the scheme. Also use more action sequencies and try to visualize the story rather than to tell it trough dialogue.

Overall it kept me watching the whole 10 minutes and I enjoyed it but would have liked less dialogue and more action.
