Re: BiM 2012: Kitchen Sink [CLOSED]
Sounds awesome! I like how we have to tie everything together with the sink.

Umm, perhaps I misread the contest post, but the actual entries don't have to have anything to do with a sink at all. The theme was simply taking from the old saying "Everything but the kitchen sink."
I'm not a big fan of the theme, but it could be a good exercise for storytelling. I might try, but first I have to complete another film, then we'll see. Meanwhile I can think about a story.
Pretty cool prizes too.
Wow; what a concept.
EDIT: This contest has one of the most unique submission methods I've ever seen. I don't think we've ever done submission via mail before.

I'm really only kind of loosely supervising the contest this year, but I'll try to answer a few questions.
I have a question. Do we choose whether to submit via YouTube or by mailing it in? Or do we have to do both? Can I just submit via YouTube?
You can just submit via YouTube. The other option is just to leave room for people who don't want to use YouTube or whatever (happens every contest, usually kids whose parents don't let them use YouTube)

Repelling Spider is right on this one.
I figured the theme would be a little divisive, but honestly we haven't had many good entries in the major annual contest for the last few years. You know something is wrong when most of the top entries are unambitious shorts put together in a couple weeks before the deadline on a contest that ran for several months. We wanted to try something a little different, but not as challengingly off-beat as a theme like 'Avant-Garde.'
Thanks for the answers, Smeagol. I haven't been around here long so I'm not familiar with how past contests have gone, but I think this topic was a good one. Anyhow, I've already done a little thinking on mine and have a general idea of what I may do.
Are we allowed to do collaborations?
I haven't animated anything in over 3 months. I am sorry about that, but I have been working on my magnum opus: Ghost Cat: Port of Call New Orleans

I was kinda hoping the prizes would be like last year's contest, but I might enter anyway. I don't know for sure though. I have a lot of video ideas and not a lot of time to execute them.

This sounds like a good contest, and I like the prizes. I've had an idea for an interactive video once, but it just never worked out. Also, the due date for entries gives us time to make our film.
Sorry but I will be 13 in September so will I be in the 13+ section in this competition due to the fact that I will be 13 at time of entry but will have made it when I'm 12.
Meh. I shall not be entering this. I really really dislike interactive brickfilms.
You say that for every contest...
This is gonna be awesome!
KG did an interactive film ones.
This sounds pretty awesome, haven't animated in MONTHS, so I hope I'll try at least. Prizes is meh, but I probably won't win anyway.
Well, I really don't like the theme, and I liked it back in the good old days when the contest would be announced in January, and end in July, that seemed to make it a fun summer contest, but nonetheless I guess I shouldn't complain, because I won't be entering due to the theme.
I've already got an idea!
Unfortunately, filming for Sabotage will have to be briefly slowed down.
Jstudios did something like this...except I'm not sure if it had an official ending.
