Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I begrudgingly watched HP6 (my roomate left a DVD lying around) after they butchered OOTP. I ended up shutting it off halfway through and never watched any more in the series after that. The first four films are great, but the books are truly where it's at.

The last film I watched was "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" which was STUPID good: an intelligent, brilliant film, at least for the first 2/3rds of the runtime. The last act devolved into typical simple suspense and imho dragged a bit.

The animation (outsourced to British animator Richard Williams and Co) went above and beyond, and I couldn't help thinking it egged the Disney animators on to step it up, thus ushering in the 2nd golden age of animation in the late '80s and early '90s.

It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Noelle, but not the Disney movie. This one is an independent film on Amazon Prime. It stars David Wall (dunno who he is, but that's how I'm describing this movie).

It's about a Catholic priest that goes to shut down a church at Christmas and has conflict with the super relaxed priest there. The story gets way more complex than that, but that's the core of it. I didn't really know what to expect when my family randomly turned it on, but it was interesting to watch. A lot of the humor was super dry but very funny, even though this is a drama movie. (Maybe it wasn't supposed to be funny???) It had a lot of conflict of tradition, religion, and learning of self in the movie, which I like. Kind of taboo and offensive to some people potentially, but I like it when a movie tries something bold.

(Am I supposed to review or rate in this topic? IDK if I've ever posted here before) Idk rating scales, but I'd give it a 7/10. Prolly won't ever watch it again, but it was gripping to watch the first time.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind yesterday.

Absolutely brilliant movie. It’s one of those films that sort of sits with you for a while, there’s so much to unpack, even though it’s a simple(ish) story.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker.

(actually not the last one I watched but I am catching up here)

Starting with the original Star Wars in 1977, I got to see every Star Wars movie in their first run in the theater.

This is simply the best of all Star Wars movies.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Well in this current situation I have a lot of time for myself at home in this property in Italy   so this evening I am finally going to watch Tarantino's "Once upon a time in Hollywood", anybody watched? Is it worth the time?

Got it for Christmas. It looks great in HD, plus the shorts are really funny.
