Is how I'd put this film about a man who forgot it was Valentines Day and must now search for a present for his beloved IN THE DARKEST DEPTHS OF HUMANITY into a Haiku.

That dialogue animation though.  So smooth.  So fluid.  So fitting.  It feels so fresh and good.

I really liked the split screen with two characters talking at once.  It felt right.  Although I feel like a few shots ended up looking too dim (stores are usually quite bright in my experience), and it might have done with some better pacing and timing.

But that dialogue, mmm....

Re: The Procrastinator's Valentine's Special

Thanks for the feedback, Squid! I tried a couple of tricks to make the dialogue all silky smooth, glad it worked out.

By timing, do you mean of the jokes or the story? Not sure what you meant 100%.

Thanks for watching, nonetheless!

More than accurate.

As said, dialogue is animated wonderfully, and you still have a great sense of humour. But the lighting in that one scene seemed too dark for a convenience store.

I really liked the cinematography as well, especially with the through the aisle shots and the split-screen ones at the start.

Re: The Procrastinator's Valentine's Special

Thanks, Jon!

While it's not apparent through the whole film, I am trying to work more actual cinematography into my films, instead of just pointing and shooting the funni wordz. It's too easy, at least it was for me at least, to fall into a pattern of not using the camera for what the camera was meant to do. Definitely foresee myself trying to do some more weird stuff in the future, as there are some shots I've done, including in this film, that definitely could have used some more flair.

That would have been trippy if it weren't so legit.

Re: The Procrastinator's Valentine's Special

"You're too busy rolling through life like the worthless watermelon of a person that you are" is my new favourite expression.

There's some great stuff here.  The use of split-screen and overlapping voices in the beginning was amazing.  I really liked the monotonous voice of the cashier, and the "critics" discussing the Valentine's cards and the "ape" was were hilarious too.

There are a few minor flaws--for example, the lighting in the beginning is a lot dimmer compared to the light at the end part.  While ther was some great cinematography in the beginning, it kind of fell apart towards the end.  We see the different people discussing the relative merits of different cards, but the shots never show how they stand in relation to each other, which makes the cinematography and editing feel kind of odd and stilted.  So it feels like there are a bunch of shots just lumped together, rather than a dynamic scene.  It's kind of hard to explain, so I hope it makes sense.

Aside from that, though, I really enjoyed this!  Great job!

Huh, great thoughts, Vertigo. Something I never really thought of, or at least I thought they were established enough, but maybe not.
