Hey all!
I am currently planning a short video of mine, and I have a question. In this video, there will be this guy who sells pizza inside a pizza van. The problem is, the van is so small that it would be a pain to try to create a smooth animation of the lego guy moving inside. Do you have any suggestions or techniques? Thanks.
I'm confused. Are you talking about shooting it so that most of the time you can only see the guy in the van or would you be able to see what's happening outside at the same time? For the former, I would suggest the same as Aquamorph. For the latter, you could try using something like a lot of blu-tac (probably in balls) and stick the bottom of the van to the ground, and then detach the roof of the van (if you can, otherwise maybe you don't have to show the roof?), take out the minifigure, move him, and then put him back for each frame

Make it so he roof and back wall come off and can be put back in the same spot like this http://www.bricksinmotion.com/forums/to … ight-sets/ . Or if the video takes place inside just build it bigger like AquaMorph said.
Build two vans. One for shots of the outside and one for shots of the inside. Make the inside one a lot larger. Make the outside one normal sized. If you need to peer into the van from the outside, like with customer interaction (if a guy is handing stuff out the window), build an in-between sized van that serves the purpose of having hand room and an exterior.
The LEGO Movie did this a ton. One prime example is this:

For any exterior shots I would also suggest locking the van down with something sturdier than sticky tac, e.g. a cleverly hidden brick connection to the larger set; otherwise it will be impossible to avoid the van jittering around.
