Topic: Looking for advice on lenses

I'm brand new to brickfilms, stop-motion and photography. I haven't even received my first DSLR yet--it's still in transit. It's a Canon T5i, and I'm wondering what lens(es) to pair with it. I'm working with a $100-ish budget. After a bit of research, I stumbled across SlothPaladin's guide, and am about ready to the pull trigger on a Micro-Nikkor 55mm f/3.5. Do you agree with that choice, or would you suggest something else? I'd love to hear your opinion.

Also, do you recommend I go with a lens that allows me a couple feet of space between my camera and sets, so that I have room to work?

Re: Looking for advice on lenses

As a first lens, absolutely, go for the Nikkor 55mm. You can easily shoot an entire brickfilm on just a 50ish mm lens, I've done it several times.
