Topic: badges?

well, even though it says when you joined on your profile, there is no imediate icon of your experience from BiM, so just as an idea we should have an icon under our profile that shows how much we contributed to the early stages of the site.

ex.1, since I helped with the designs for the emoticons, I should have one like this: http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p84/UberSocks/1.gif

it's just an idea, so I would like some feedback

How would your 'contributions' be measured?

Re: badges?

I like the idea of that but that would be hard to keep track of. There's going to be thousands of members (eventually) so how is this going to be watched over?

anyway, we could have someone take care of it as an "occupation"
like the minister of badges. I think it's kinda catchy. mini/bigsmile

Re: badges?

I think it obvious that was a typo and that I meant Minister of.

Re: badges?

I always wanted a "Minister of Love" badge...

Re: badges?

Can we stop trying to separate trying to divide the community into "important people" and "not important people?" Who the heck cares how long you've been here? Your reputation should be based on your posts and your films, not a freakin' badge under your name.

Re: badges?

There's nothing wrong with elitism. I love elitism. However, I agree with TheNoodle that reputations here should be based on current actions. No badges.

Yes?

I don't like this idea very much. I think it should only go as far as Moderator and Admin. Anything else is just useless.

I apologize for being overly harsh. I got out of line, and I'm sorry.

Look. You posted a lot of smilies, many of which Sean redid as part of a collection that may or may not become "official" BIM smilies. Cool. Thank you. But why do you what to have a badge under your name announcing that fact to everyone? All I can come up with is a desire to either boast, feel superior to newbies, or somehow fit in with the elite directors, and none of those seem like valid reasons for Schlaeps to postpone work on the directory, resources, etc. in order to design a badge system. Besides, making a great film will garner you a lot more respect than a badge ever will.

I agree.
