Topic: The Not Free Software list
EDIT: PLEASE PROVIDE SOME BASIC INFO ON THE SOFTWARE YOU RECCOMEND
Some people, I have noticed, have some money too spend on brickfilming, but don't know what to spend it on. This thread should help those people. I have a bit of expensive software, but I don't know a lot about ones that I haven't got, so please tell me about any good ones you know of.
Frame capture
possibly the most important part of brickfilming
Stop Motion Pro-Extremely useful software for frame capture. One of the best.
Animoto-I had never heard of this until ggo2000 told me, which is why I have no info on it.
iStopmotion-Useful frame capture software for Mac.
Movie editing
For editing the actual movie, not special effects
Final Cut Pro-Very popular editor for mac.
Adobe Premier-Very similar too After Effects, only focuses more on just compiling clips.
Sony Vegas Movie Studio-Easy to use, professional movie editor. Lots of versions out there.
Ulead Video Studio-Relatively popular editor
Adobe Encore-For editing and making DVD menu screens.
Sony DVD Archive-The title suggests that it might be used for editing DVDs. Not flying to the moon.
Pinnacle studio-Very good for enhancing a movie.
Apple Aperture-For converting videos to HD. Mac only.
Adobe photoshop-Very useful for editing frame by frame.
Quicktime pro-For compressing videos.
Final cut express/pro-Useful editors for Macs.
Corel VideoStudio Pro X2-Not very popular, but possibly still quite good.
Corel Ulead VideoStudio-For converting videos to HD.
PhotoStudio-For frame by frame effects/editing.
Adobe photoshop-Quite probably the best photo editor out there, if you know how to use it.
Special Effects
A big part of movie making is special effects. These include explosions, lasers, etc.
Adobe After Effects-Very good, but quite hard to use. Not recommended for amateur film makers, like most of us, but still quite useful.
Wondertouch ParticleIllusion-Very popular, relatively easy to use special effects software by wondertouch.
FXHome Effectslab Pro-Useful for just about everything you can think of to do with special effects. Also, at only $90 Approx. it's one of the cheapest on this list.
Audio
What's the good in a silent brickfilm?
Sony Vegas Audio Studio-It is a little known fact that this exists, but it does. I have it.
Adobe Soundbooth-A proffesional sound recorder. Adobe have covered all areas, it seems.
Soundtrack pro-Very good recording software, not sure of its capabilities.
Goldwave-Useful for modifying pitch and speed.
Magix Music Editor-For editing...well...music, I guess...
Garritan Personal Orchestra-For composing music.
CGI
How did I miss this out before?
Autodesk Maya-Pixar use it, so it must be good!
Autodesk 3DS Max-A slightly cheaper CGI program from Autodesk.
Daz Carrara Studio-Very good, and relatively cheap, as far as they go.
I will welcome all contributions not on this list.
