The way I did it was I made the banner, (using MS Paint + MonkeyJam) then uploaded the picture to PhotoBucket. Then, I right clicked and selected 'copy image URL' or 'copy image address'. Then I paste it on my signature thing, and put [img]+[/img] tags around the link. Hope I helped

I already answered that question for you in café corner.
For similar questions you might need answered in the future, check The Beginners' Guide.
I think there may be a problem here. It seems almost every week someone joins the site then posts a thread asking how they can make/ display a signature. The problem may be that its just not clear enough to new members. If you look on the signature page, there isn't any information explaining how to add a banner signature.
There are links on the page that lead to pages explaining bbcode, images and smilies but these pages dont seem to be using the same styling as the rest of the site and are not laid out particularly well. The bbcode page for example, is a complete mess, if you were a 12 year old who has no knowledge of online forums and isn't a frequent internet user he is not going to have a clue what your going on about. This then leads that person to go to the audio forum and bump some random thread asking how he can make a banner signature and then use it in the forums (you know it happens). Then a moderator refers them to "A Beginner's Guide to Bricks In Motion". As good as the Beginners guide is, the part about adding signatures just refers you back to the BBcode page.
I think the solution would be to put a link on the signature page leading to a single page explaining how to get a signature. It should be plain, and simple. But go through every step from uploading it to a image hosting site, to putting it into the signature field. It should perhaps incorporate relevant information from the smilies page, BBcode page and image page.
But this is just my idea, maybe someone else has a better idea.

Well I am not amazing at writing explanations. As you can probably see in my post above I have some problems with spelling and I have a rather strange writing style. However I am capable of doing it so if no one else offers I shall. It would feel good to contribute something (however small) to a community I was recently banned from. But as I said if someone else wants to do it then go ahead. But please say because I don't want to write it and find that someone else has already started, if you know what I mean.
It's to big, 100 height, 400 width.
Why could the sigs not work the same as the avatars? Just upload it. I mean, I know people want text there, so perhaps there could just be a text box above and bellow.
Whats the point in putting it on a site when you could just upload it from your pictures (or documents, wherever you keep your sigs). I know the BBcode comes in handy if you want pictures in posts, but I'm just interested in why the avatars are so much easier than sigs (in the way you don't need to type in any codes for it).
1. Creating A Banner
You can use free-ware programs like MS-Paint or GIMP, which are good for making a signature. Remember that the max. height is 100 pixels and the max. width is 400 pixels. The best formats are .png , which keeps the picture in a small size, though the quality is good. Another option is sayving them as .jpg , but the quality isn´t good as .png. The other formats are also okay, but your picture will be blurry and pixelated.
If you have any questions, you can post them here.
2. Uploading Banner To A Host
When your banner is saved, you ahve to find an image uploader. There are Imageshack, Tinypic and Majhost, where you have to register. Choose your site, go to file and click "Browse". Now look where you saved your banner and click "Okay". Go to "Upload now" and you´ll be redirected to another page. On the left side are some boxes. Copy the link with the title "Direct Link".
3. Putting The Banner In Your Signature
Once you did this, go to the Bricks in Motion Forums. There should be a "Profile" link, which is under the logo. Click it and another page will show up. Go to "Signature". Click on the box next to "Compose signature".
Now you have to type
[img] [/img]
Between these, insert your copied link from 2.
Now you are done! If it doesn´t shows up you should read this optional chapter:
4. Trobleshooting
If you signature doesn´t shows up, check if it´s bigger than 400x100 pixels, if it´s an animated .gif -file, or if the content is not okay. The copied link could be broken, try another uploading site then.

Because signatures work the same way as normal text, and avatars are by definition, well, avatars. They're two completely different sides of a spectrum.
A signature is traditionally a place where people would put down their name, contact information et cetera. Over the years its usage has been changed. But an avatar has always been a little picture to identify the user. An avatar picture is easier to upload because that's what an avatar picture is. A signature is a whole different thing.
It doesn't seem very descriptive, and I dont know that I would understand it if i was 10. But it's still nice that someone cared for idea. Some improvements are definitely needed.
Edit: I gave it ago bellow.

A signature is a small piece of text or an image that will be attached to the bottom of all of your posts. You can change your signature in your Profile under the Signature tab.
Text Signatures
For text signatures you can just write what you want to be displayed into the signature field. But if you want to make it look all fancy you can use smiles or bbcode.
Banner Signatures
It is common for people to use images as their signatures. But in order to use an image as your signature you must first get an image. Most people make their own signatures but you can get them from the internet if you like. Site rules state that you cannot have a signature larger than 400 pixels wide and 100 pixels high, so try to be careful about the size if you get one from the internet.
The steps you must take to make your own banner signature:
Open a piece of image editing software. (Photoshop and the GIMP are the most popular, though there are many others.)
Next you have to create a new image. Set the width and height (make sure it’s not over 400 pixels wide and 100 pixels high).
Then you may decorate it, adding text, pictures and whatever else you want.
When you’re done you will need to export your image. I recommend saving as a .png, .gif or .jpg.
You can’t upload the signature directly to Bricks in Motion, instead you will have to use an image hosting site. There are plenty of these and a quick Google search will reveal loads, but my favourites are listed below.
Once signed in, find the upload button, and follow all the steps need to upload.
Now that it is online you will have to get the image's URL (Web address).
On photobucket you get the URL by clicking on your image, and copying the “Direct link” from the "share this image" side bar. This will be similar on most image hosting sites.
If you’re using Firefox you can also copy the image’s URL by right clicking on the image and selecting “copy image location”.
Note: HTML codes won't work.
Now that you have the image's URL you have to enter it into the signature field. But in order for it to be displayed as an image you will have to use bbcode. The tags
[img] [/img]
must surround the images URL.
Example:
[img]imageURL[/img]
Now press the “Update profile” button an you’re done.
Linking Images
You may want to link your image to another webpage, (youtube channels are popular destinations).
To do this add the
[url= ] [/url]
tags around your image. Now get the address you want people to be directed to and add it after the "=".
Example:
[url=youtube.com][img]imageURL[/img][/url]
The result will be something like this:
By clicking that link you will be directed my youtube channel.
If you have any other questions I will be happy to help and if I was unclear on something please say.
For more information on making banner signatures you can go to the photo manipulation and creation thread, people are always happy to help.
