Not sure if this would the right place to ask, but would this song be considered to be royalty-free? I've heard it in quite a few films and TV shows. I'm possibly contemplating using it in a brickfilm, so for obvious reasons I'd prefer if it were royalty-free. Apparently (according to Wikipedia, that is) the song itself dates back to the early 20th century, so that would make it eligible, but the recording itself is much later than that, so it's unclear to me.
Hey I saw this link on Reddit to a post with links to new sites with royalty free music. Here is the post.
Here are direct links to the individual sites:
Josh Woodward's songs for people who like things
Derek Audette
Lino Rise
Blacksona's Ambient Music Albums: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Araven's Electronic Music
South Second's Music
Ryantothec’s cinematic music library
Elias Gowins’ R255 album
Steven O’Brien’s classical piano music
Coel Healy’s ambient music
Free Stock Music
CCMixter’s Creative Commons music
mobygratis
armadillo.cc
I strongly suggest that you check out the post with full descriptions, precautions, and suggestions. I haven't had the time to check every source yet, but the ones I have checked seem legit. Always take time on your own to look at the licenses yourself.
I am a fan of the ambient music and can't wait to use it in future projects.

I'm having trouble finding sounds for a robot. I need a short sound for a robot powering up and down. Could someone help me
Heh - I need a robot powering down as well. Are we working on the same movie!?
I don't think you are, TogFox, It's just a coincidence, unless he has the script too! Hey, TogFox, I wanted to send you the chord progression as an audio file once I render it to mp3 format. Maybe I'll use one of my synthesizers to give the sound of Robot. Maybe I'll make a few, and send one to Ocecras Films, too, so you each have your own unique sound. Do either of you want a typical sound that sounds like a sine wave played on a record player, and the player is shut off?

That would be awesome HoldingOurOwn! I'm just looking for a sound for a robot who is activated and another sound for when he is shut off. Maybe a mechanical sound for when he moves his arm also.
If anybody needs dramatic organ music, I've recently done Bach's Tocatta and Fugue in D minor, as well as some other classical piano pieces.

I'd like to see the work before I agree to do it or not...
Cooked Cat.
If that's the way they treat people, then they don't deserve business.
by the way, two other websites I haven't seen on this thread are; www.jukedeck.com and filmstro.com
they both offer both free and paid options for customized music tracks.
filmstro tracks are not royalty free though.
Are the composers listed here expecting to be paid or will they compose for free?
Hey, not sure what the rules on self promotion are, but I write music and release it for free, all I ask for is credit if you use it. Playlist of my stuff can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P JUOkxDDjxd
Feel free to message me on here or email me ( [email protected] ) if you want me to write something for you. I'll work for free.
Hello, Fithboy. Music composers are always welcome here. I like your music, and just subscribed. It's good to know for anyone who wants some original music in their films, that they can go to you. I'd recommend you take a look at the film scoring challenge thread in the audio section of the forums (this part of the forums).
