I think

Re: so i ganna save up and by a 600 dollar Canon

Honestly, no. I've just watched a couple of your videos. The camera quality is fine. Plus I also think you're animation needs to improve slightly. It's not all about the equipment, it's about the film or animation itself. The choice is yours of course.

Re: so i ganna save up and by a 600 dollar Canon

well, i know i not very good at animating, but i dont have a remote for my camcorder, and i dislike webcams, maybe i should by an older mac and to hook my camera up to that. i dislike the shaky came that my camera makes

*Chuckles* Why would you want to buy a mac!
And what's wrong with web cams? Some are very good for brick filming.

my windows computer doesnt have a firewire adapter, so that be only reason i by mac,  and webcams i just dislike

Re: so i ganna save up and by a 600 dollar Canon

Why do you dislike webcams? They are extremly useful and relatively cheap compared to other cameras.

The lens you use with a DSLR is a big factor. Ideally, you'll need a lens with a wide field of view but can also focus close to the lens. The Quickcam Pro 9000 for instance, does a great job at this. The kit lens (18-55mm) on my Canon DSLR can't touch it (not to mention the aperture related flicker issues).

The Quickcam Pro 9000 can produce great results, and it's inexpensive. That being said, I use a DSLR. With the right setup a DSLR can't be beat. But getting the right setup is more involved and expensive than just buying the camera.

If you're looking to improve your setup, I would consider software over hardware. Is After Effects something you could use? It's amazingly powerful for an experienced user, but it's also very effective even for the less experienced.

Same as all of the rest...but I do want to ask...what model are you looking into and where are you going to buy it?

Re: so i ganna save up and by a 600 dollar Canon

Re: so i ganna save up and by a 600 dollar Canon

If you're going to use the DSLR for brickfilming only, you don't need 600 dollars...
- i bought a used canon 1000D body: 175 euro's.
- three (!) used manual lenses (29mm, 50mm, 35-70mm + extension tubes) + adapter: 80 euro's.

But if you want to use the camera for regular photography, yep, go for THE new stuff...

Angles? Ha, you can get any angle you want with a webcam. All you have to do is build a cradle out of Lego to encase it (make sure your cradle has a flat bottom so you can attach it to rigs). Then, attach a few tiles to the baseplate, so that they are paralell to each other and don't touch. Put a round stud piece between two of the plates. This way, you can move the camera side to side and get any angle you want. To get other angles, build a rig that will put it in the postion you want.

Our local version of EBay.
The lenses are old (!) manual lenses but optically still perfect.

Please search on the difference between wide angle and Tele lenses. You'll see.
The webcam is a close focussing, wide angle lens.

What you are talking about is point of view.

Re: so i ganna save up and by a 600 dollar Canon

Well, I guess if you don't want a webcam, then just get the expensive camera. I offered a solution to the problem you mentioned, but seeing as you didn't take it, there must be more things about it that annoy you. Just curious, what are those other things?

boardron, "angles" could also mean camera angles, which means the same thing as point of view. I thought that was what he's talking about because it's hard to get many camera angles without a cradle.
