Not sure if this is the most fitting topic, but here goes. I have recently acquired a DSLR plus extension tubes and a 50mm f/1.8 lens, so I've been shooting quite a few test pictures, pretty much all of which involve ridiculous amounts of over-the-top Bokeh.
{I think I unintentionally started emulating Squid's style with this one...)
Manual focus is just so incredible. I can already think of hundreds of ways of using this. I genuinely don't know how I managed to brickfilm without it up until now.
The depth of focus on this thing is ridiculous.
However, it seems I got too much of a good thing, seeing as the F-stop is too low and the depth of focus too shallow to be practical for most shots. I ended up with shots like this, which just look ludicrous.
The extension tubes I use are the really cheap ones that don't have an electronic connection between the lens and camera body, so the aperture is automatically set to f/1.8 and I can't adjust it. I didn't think it would be a problem, but it looks as though I'll have to return these and get a pair that allow me to adjust the aperture.
