Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

Didn't get to much Lego for Christmas (got tones of stuff for brickfilming and other stuff though mini/bigsmile).  But I did get this small set: http://brickset.com/sets/41518-1/Glomp

And after seeing The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies yesterday, I just ordered this on bricklink with some Christmas money:

Went to the LEGO Store just recently and bought the new Witch-King Battle and Riverside Chase sets.

They're both really great sets, the Witch-King Battle in particular.  The amount of dark grey "brick bricks" (six in total!) alone make it worth buying.  And there's a dark red tree leaf as well (though it would have been nice if the designers had thrown in another one, but I'm not complaining).

The Witch-King's crown is a surprisingly useful part; it fits a 1x1 round plate/brick perfectly, opening up a lot of design possibilities.

For Christmas I also acquired the Witch King Battle.

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7529/15529458183_e6926abf67_b.jpg

The set itself was rather small, so I went ahead and skipped building anything more than the figures, as I'd likely destroy it for the six grey brick-bricks.

I previously had only 10 grey brick-bricks, 8 from Azog's big castle, and 2 from a smaller set in the Hobbit line.  But this set is much smaller than either, so I'm pretty sure it has the best price to brick-brick ratio of the three.
Since I build so much in dark grey these should be fantastically useful to me.  I already used all of the first 10 in Darkmoor.

I also really like the crown, I've already built some interesting scifi weapons using it, and they're quite nice.

Galadriel's cape is quite something, but unfortunately, her hair would damage the cape if I were to actually put it on her, wrinkling it all in a strange way.  So I went ahead and replaced it with an extra white cape so I could keep the sparkly cape in good condition for if and when I ever need it.

In addition, I received a great many random minifigures from a series:

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7472/16147296621_6c8c9b8421_b.jpg

My favourites are the Wizard and Princess.  I got three gamers, but they're pretty lame, and three warriors, but they're fantastic.  And FOUR pigmen (I wet to four).  They're kinda strange, but I think I could find a use for them someplace.  I've already modified one of them.

Not pictured here are the three genies,  But they're really weird looking and I don't like them at all.

And here's the crown jewel:

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7472/16123409116_f893bdc761_b.jpg

I've always wanted a classic spaceship since I was a wee lad.  It's a dream come true.

All in all, It's a fantastic haul of LEGO.  But besides that I barely got anything non-LEGO besides Space Engineers and Shakespearean Star Wars books.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

That Spaceship! Spaceship! SPACESHIP! is something one of my kids got for Christmas... he's only 2 so I'm building it for him.

On the day of its release, I bought Mia's Roadster (41091)

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

Nearly finished building my Chirstmas voucher Lego (just the big Justice League plane to go). The Green Lantern set is awesomesauce (the fighter jet is a beaut) and the minifigs from the Darkseid set all have so much detail, I can't wait to use them for something. Darkseid himself is my first bigfig and before I had doubts, but I definitely like the design now.

As for the new Bionicle, well...I've got a new Bionicle set! It's so good to be able to say that, after five years of nothing. As for the build, the Bionicle fandom's really divided on the CCBS (the Hero Factory building system) but, considering this is the first CCBS set I've ever got, I'm actually impressed. It's sturdy, has decent poseability and lots of cool new Technic pieces, plus that multi-tone mask is epic. I don't know what all the complaints were about, and I hope I can get me some more of these Bonkles.

Also HOO, is the hair from LEGO Friends set compatible with regular minifigures?

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

Jampot, very yes!  In fact, the hair is the only parts that are!  The heads and torsos are attached with elliptical posts rather than stud shapes, so the heads, torsos, and legs are ONLY compatible with other Friends parts.  But the hairpieces, which are a bit rubbery like some alien heads in Star Wars sets,  are completely Lego-compatible.  Moreover, they tend to have full, extravagant styles not seen in "regular" Lego, and have small holes for accessorizing.  You'll see that Mia in my above pic has a pair of sunglasses attached, which is removable.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

Thanks HOO, I'll be sure to try and get some of the hairpieces on Bricklink now. I just wanted to be sure before I did. In particular, I want some of the red ones in order to make some Marvel characters like Jean Grey and comic-style Black Widow.

Re: What was the last LEGO set you got?

Sure.  Incidentally, the hair is not found under FRIENDS, but I believe in the regular hair section.  The red hair belongs to Mia, one of the five members of the core cast.

Actually, the hole in the bottom of the head can be attached to a standard LEGO bar (like a lightsaber stick). I haven't found any System connections for the torso and legs though.

@Jampot I recommend LEGO Friends hair. They are rubber, but they are still great. They are so detailed and add great variety to your hair collection.

Indeed it is! And if you take a 1x1 round with a hold in it, you can attach it to the LEGO friends neck (on the torso) and stick normal minifig heads on the friends bodies (though, it looks really creepy).
