Re: Café Corner

I feel like you could just put it more on your upper arm and get rid of the glove factor to stop yourself being encumbered by it. That would of course destroy the whole "Power Glove" aesthetic, but it'd make it more functional and you wouldn't have to hunt down a rather silly piece of outdated tech to make your device.

Re: Café Corner

Okay guys, I need some really urgent help with Sony Vegas, so if anyone that's knowledgeable with the program could reply, that'd be great.

So I'm editing a video I got commissioned to do for the school's Japanese program yesterday, and after a long day of editing I leave to go to dinner and then go back home to rest up to continue editing today.

I go to Sony Vegas to open up the project today when I get this message:

An error occurred while loading the project file Japanese Competition.vf
The file format plugin for the specified format was not properly initialized]

Now I can't open up the project at all. Does anyone know what's going on here and what, if anything, can be done? I looked it up on google and all I could find was one Creative Cow post where the guy just changed the extension and it started working again. I do the same thing and still get an error message.

Help?

When that happened for me, I found out my file was damaged.

Re: Café Corner

I've not had that issue yet. So silly question time:
Have you tried to completely close Vegas down, and reopen it?
Have you tried opening it different ways? (Recent projects, opening SV then opening project through that, clicking on VF file, Ect...)
Tried restarting the computer?
What kind of files are you editing? Anything unusual that may have caused it?

Sadly, you may have lost it. I really don't know how to help.

Re: Café Corner

I'm trying to recall the name of a brickfilm from a while ago. It featured a prison break by helicopter at the end and a shootout. I think it might have been named after the main character, who had a great, cheesy actiony name. Can anyone help me?

I was rather surprised to see this during a Super Bowl commercial last night. mini/eek  Anyone else catch it?

What was the commercial advertising? I'd like to see the whole thing.

It was just a montage of people cheering on their favorite NFL teams. So, I guess it was a commercial for... football. mini/wink  Unfortunately, they were only in it for literally two seconds. Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk_HHcG5Wik

Anyone know why they were cheering on the Saints, though?

That's so messed up on so many levels.  How would they think that they could ever get away that?  They didn't even change they name.  Someone was bound notice that.

That sounds almost too messed up to be true.

Why can't they just pay the writer anyway?  They're already underpaid as it is, and the movie is making tons of money.

Wow. I hadn't heard about any of this. Alfonso Cuarón taking Gerritsen's story and Warner Bros. not honoring the contract she had with New Line is just pathetic.

On that note, I can't believe I hadn't heard of the issue you linked at the bottom there. My goodness. To be honest, I am not really surprised that Steve Jobs was such a big part of something like that. And as far as Lucas goes, I can't say I ever really had much of an opinion on his character. Which brings me to John Lasseter...

(Although Ed Catmull definitely seems to be more involved in everything than Lasseter. Also disappointing...)

Not sure, but in the NCIS episode that introduced the NCIS: New Orleans characters one of the New Orleans guys built with LEGO. Probably unrelated though. mini/tongue

Re: Café Corner

As far as I'm aware Tess Gerritsen is highly successful as an author, so it's not like she desperately needs the money to support herself, but I agree the lack of morals and basic integrity here is disgusting.

That said, from what I can tell, Cuaron's actual film Gravity seems to differ a fair bit from Gerritsen's original story.  From what it sounds like, Cuaron seems to have taken inspiration from the basic concept to write his own original screenplay (which, one must admit, anyone who has ever done anything creative has done something like this, in some capacity), rather than plagiarise the story outright.  So in this light it seems the link between Gerritsen's book and Cuaron's film is pretty indirect.  Of course, I don't know the details so I'm unaware as to how similar both stories really are, so I'm not really qualified to offer an informed opinion on this particular matter.  Either way, though, the implications this case has for the entertainment industry are pretty worrying, so I hope this pans out well.

Even so, why not just honour the agreement and honour the original agreement with the author?  I mean, it's not like this film hasn't earned millions in profit...

I'd love to own my own films, but it is quite risky.

Re: Café Corner

So, I decided to do a bit of a graphical update to my channel, with a new, more professional header. It's relatively simple, but I'd like to hear what you guys think about it, in terms of graphics, background, text, font, and color. Any opinion helps!

Stuff like this makes me eager for the rise of crowdfunded films. I can't see as much of this stuff happening when the money is coming directly from the audience to the creator.

Of course, I could be dreaming of a perfect world, and stuff like this will continue even with crowdfunding.

The LEGO Movie gets an honest trailer

Re: Café Corner

I just spent the last 36 hours sitting at my desk and completing the color grading for Monitogo Studios' brickfilm epic Bound.

It's incredible, y'all. And I'm not talking about my color grading*. There are no words for the scope of this film.

*Not that my color grading wasn't stellar.

Yup, I saw that. I love those Honest Trailers. I can usually find myself agreeing with just about everything. Nice to see Epic Rap Battles of History lending them a hand. Kind of disturbing, though, that thanks to this Honest Trailer, I realized that one of the construction workers was hip-thrusting in the tower-building sequence.

Isn't that something Repelling Spider was working on? Is that why he hasn't been around the forums in awhile?
