Topic: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

This is our (nichtgedreht+prisac) entry for the THAC 6. Primary we were working on our entry for the magnificent Steinerei 2009 which isn't very far yet, its seems to be even more work than our last entry Weltraffer.
Enough about it and back to topic: We decided to pause our projekt for a prisac-nichtgedreht cooperation for the sixth THAC. Finally we made a film about the new president and our expectations.
Enjoy the film and yourself as well:

Watch it here http://nichtgedreht.de/2009/01/yes-we-can/
Or download a 10MB XviD
And wait for the High Definition which is still rendering, because we want to get the best out of our 40D.

Hey, that was great! By the way, I don't know if I told you this, but I saw Weltraffer at the Contravision Film Festival (where Night of the Tater was showing) and loved it.

Re: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

Again an awesome movie from nichtgedreht - and Prisac
It show´s in a verry child-like kind the hope we all have for the new US-President Obama.
Every where on this little planet we have all our private hope into him.

Its amusing to find out which scenes comes from Prisac, and which from "nichtgedreht". But this mixture is verry interesting , and its worth a re-make...

Good luck!

Hehe, so which of the scenes are made in our style an which are made in the style of prisac?

Just another riddle. I like riddles. mini/wink

Re: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

I thought that was awesome. I really liked the ending shot of President Obama shaking many of those people's hands from different countries. That was awesome. I think we are all looking forward to inauguration day.

Re: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

Absolutely stunning. The hand shake scene itself was incredible but amazing sets and animation really made that beautiful. It was fun to watch, this will do good in THAC, it was great. mini/smile

The president the colour darkness some detail is lost in the face the expression.
Some of the moves are jerky but fits the tone the charming-naive mini/smile
Great the sets the brick-building. The sound I enjoy. Top film-making.

Great film, really liked it. I hope you do well.

Re: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

Nice film, a little shaky in spots. I'm not sure if you noticed, but you spelled it "Dow Jonas" on the stock market scene, so someone might end up thinking that teen pop icons have taken over the economy. mini/tongue

With things as they are, the economy could just as well have been taken over by teen pop icons. mini/tongue

Thanks to all of you!

Actually we wanted to make sure that there is a mod element everywhere, so we decided to change it. I know, there is already the yellow and the red brick connected, but it's safer this way. mini/wink

Glad you enjoyed it!

Re: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

Absolutely brilliant! You pulled that off well!

Minifigs resemble humans, apart from having no knees, 360 degree turning heads and hands, non-functioning elbows and frozen spines.
Plus they have no life. That's where you need an animator.
Animation can do anything!

Re: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

That was great! The handshake really "wowed" me out, but I was dissapointed to see that Obama never shook hands with Australia. The aniamtion itself was a bit jerky, but it was still good. The sets were absolutly stunning! Alltogether, I'd give it a 4.9/5.

Re: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

hello
together,

i just go by train
to the steinekuMpels of nichtgedreht
early in the morning ... and have no idea,
what is coming in the next hours.
but after we get the theme and we discuss,
what we will filM, yes, there was a feeling,
we are on the right way, nothing more.
i leave them before the filM was ready,
and just sort all there bricks ...,
but i know, they will do it well,
all pictures has been shot
and only the music must be taken to them.

a few days later i watch on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JsyLqS31Pqg
ok, 1.000 visitors ... but in a few ours,
there are 4.000.
well, the filM go arround the world,
without being on the frontpage of youtube
and whereever i find our filM,
the people like this way.

in france they like our short aniMation,
they steal it
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x82q6p … e-can_news
and show it in the breakfeast tv show
without asking us ...
http://telematin.france2.fr/index-fr.ph … D=20090120
after 1h and 26 minutes.

we make a small list,
where they posted our filM
http://brickboard.de/viewtopic.php?p=23343#23343
and i think, that is great.

today there are more than 30.000 views
and a lot of feedback without a question to us.

it s very interesting to read,
what they all see in a filM
with no story,
but the audience tell.

i like
the w3.

Re: Yes, We Can! (thac) (now in HD)

Sadly for most of our parents' and grandparents' retirement funds, the Dow Jones and other markets have done the opposite from what this film hopes since Obama was elected and inaugurated.  There seems little hope amongst people who are savvy about finances that the "stimulus" bill will do much good at all, probably even do more long-term harm than good.   Hints in the news today of Obama wanting to raise taxes on the wealthiest will further discourage the entrepreneurial spirit and as a result, hinder job creation.  With Obama's first faltering steps, my only remaining hope is that he will face economic and market realities, learn from what's worked in the past and become pragmatic so as to overwhelm his ideological commitments to higher taxes, bigger government and more gov't hand-outs.

But really cool film, well made and VERY impressive for a 24-hour production.
