Re: Your Top Ten?

I'll try do a list, this is in no order and I'll probably disagree with it once I write it.

If.... (1968) Dir. Lindsey Anderson
Just one of my favourite films
Casino Royale (1967) Dir.    Ken Hughes, John Huston, Joseph McGrath, Robert Parrish, Val Guest, Richard Talmadge
This film is technically bad, and I can't find a way to recommend it to anyone but I still love it.
Duck Soup (1933)
I can't name the director of my head but really who watches a Marx Brothers film for the director.
Duck, You Sucker (1971) Dir. Sergio Leone
Probably my favourite Sergio Leone film though I will need to rewatch it soon.
The Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer (1970) dir. Kevin Billington
Written by Peter Cook and two Python Members, it's sadly almost unheard of when it's one of the best political satires in film. Pretty much predicted the culture of spin which British Politics has now adopted.
Brazil (1985) dir. Terry Gilliam
Funny and depressing at the same time, this mix of emotions, although so common in life seems very rare in feature films. This is probably the best dystopian film made
Love and Death (1975) dir. Woody Allen
It mixes Allen's early 'funny' and his later 'serious'.
Children of Men (2005) dir. Alfonso Cuaron
One of my favourite films of the 00's (I can't strictly say this as I've barely seen any of the films 'you should see' from the last decade)
The Knack ...and How to Get It (1965) Dir. Richard Lester
I put this one because I had to choose a Richard Lester film as he's one of my favourite directors
Lawrence of Arabia (1962) Dir. David Lean
This film is an epic in the proper sense. A lot of people in this thread have misused this word.

It's Duck, You Sucker (or AKA A Fistful of Dynamite). But really awesome Leone film indeed (though The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is my favourite)

Re: Your Top Ten?

Ah sorry will amend. I decided to list that title as it's Leone's chosen title. It's also been called Once Upon A Time... The Revolution.

Re: Your Top Ten?

In no particular order:
Napoleon Dynamite
House of Wax
Superbad
Catch me If You Can
The Hangover
Zombieland
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Gran Torino
The Godfather
Fort Apache

dude, want some shrooms?

Re: Your Top Ten?

My list has changed slightly, in no particular order:

Rosemary's Baby
Repulsion
Psycho
Les Diaboliques
Halloween
Profondo Rosso
Peeping Tom
The Red Shoes
Wait Until Dark

Re: Your Top Ten?

1. Napoleon Dynamite-'Cause he talks funny...uh-huh-huh-huh.
2. Daddy Day Care -Because Eddie Murphy and Steve Zahn in the same movie is awesome!
3. The Adventures of Tintin-The animation, the music, the script...I could go on complimenting this film forever.
4. Wall-E -Something about this movie just drags me toward it like a tractor beam...
5. Spiderman 3-Better than the first two...
6. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events-Jim Carrey can play anybody...even Charlie Brown!
7. The Day After Tomorrow-It left me on the edge of my seat! The people I thought weren't gonna die died!!!
8. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade-More original than the other ones, I guess.
9. Star Wars-Episode III: Revenge of the Sith-Even though the prequels suck, this one is a'ight.

And at last, number 10...

10. The Looney Tunes Movie-Ugh, WHY?!?

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Your Top Ten?

? Don't understand what you're talking about. Wait Until Dark is a 1967 thriller with Audrey Hepburn as she plays a blind woman being terrorized by three criminals who are searching for a heroin stuffed doll.

Re: Your Top Ten?

I guess my list would look kinda like this:

1. Hollywood Ending by Woody Allen
2. Close Encounters of the Third Kind by Steven Spielberg
3. Fargo by Joel & Ethan Coen
4. Empire Strikes Back by George Lucas
5. Shawshank Redemption by Frank Darabont
6. The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan
7. Death at a Funeral (2007) by Frank Oz
8. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade by Steven Spielberg
9. Finding Nemo by Lee Unkrich & Andrew Stanton
10. Little Big Man by Arthur Penn

Some films after these would be Toy Story 3, Jurassic Park, The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, Inception, Lord of the Rings series, Peter Jackson's King Kong, Pulp Fiction, Inglorious #@!*&$+@, and LOADS of other great films which would take a while to make a list of.

Re: Your Top Ten?

Here, I changed a few things since the last list I posted.

1) Brazil
2) Singing in the rain
3) Blade Runner
4) Star Wars
5) Pulp Fiction
6) 2001: A Space Odyssey
7) Fantasia
8 ) Encounters at the End of the World
9) Freaks
10) Taxi Driver

I still feel the list is wrong, I really need to see more movies. Other movies I considered to put on the list would be:
Amarcord, L'Armata Brancaleone, Jesus Christ Superstar, Forrst Gump, Coraline, Big Fish, Ed Wood, Blues Brothers, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Fisher King, Annie Hall.

Re: Your Top Ten?

Some updates sinds previous post.

1) Dancer In The Dark

3) Zodiac
4) The Big Lebowski
5) Batman
6) Manhunter
7) Control
8 ) Paths Of Glory
9) Blue Velvet
10) The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)

It's pretty hard to make an accurate order.

Re: Your Top Ten?

Why do everyone hate the Phantom Menace? I thought that was the best one from the first three episodes.

Re: Your Top Ten?

As far as I can tell, too much politics and a slow plotline. Also Jake Lloyd (is that his name?) is a brat and a terrible actor and he always sounds sarcastic. I know most folks hated Jar Jar, but I love him, he's my favorite character. I say he saved Phantom Menace from being a dull lifeless film. (PS: I didn't say I hated it, I just didn't put it on my top 10 list, gosh. I liked it quite good compared to most films that come out these days actually.)

Re: Your Top Ten?

the only bad part of its is that Darth maul dies,

The Ghost of Mrs. Day studios: Home of mediocre brickfilms.

Well yes, but lots of people always say Phantom Menace was bad and stuff like that.

Re: Your Top Ten?

I disagree too that Phantom Menace is bad. I liked it when I first watched it (well, I was like 4 years old), and I still quite like it. It's not as good as the other four but it's definitely better than Attack of the Clones. Though I can't say I like Jar Jar, he's quite annoying, although he doesn't ruin the movie.
