If you're going with the color mod, the two colors touching must be from actual bricks, e.g., actual LEGO (or LEGO clone) plastic pieces.  Basically, just use your common sense.

A cape is fine, as long as they're connected.  Again, just be smart about it.

Why couldn't it work? I already have a mobile kit. A portable multi-compartment storage system filled with LEGO, tape, Blue Tack, Cotton Balls, portable USB lamps and a webcam.
