Topic: Directory Screencast

When Philip (Sméagol) took over BricksInMotion.com I volunteered to build the new directory.  I have been hard at work for the last two weeks and we would like to show you a screen cast of the submission form.

At this point the two things that need to be finished before we can launch the directory are the view film page and the review panel system, the submission form was one of the biggest tasks and we hope to have the directory up very soon.

So I've written a script that does not contain zombies, aliens or spaceships. Guess this means I'm turning into one of those serious brick filmers I keep hearing about.

Re: Directory Screencast

I love it. Light years ahead of the competition, I might add. You've done an excellent job, and I can't wait for the directory's release.

Didn't they test this signature out before they released it?

Re: Directory Screencast

Finally, a content advisory panel! And even though I'm not very enthusiastic about the main directory list, I can live with it.

Re: Directory Screencast

You can view the directory in list veiw and thumbnail view, the directory listings is not finished at this point, but most of the stuff is in place.  If you have ideas how it should be feel free to post them, we will at least consider them.

Re: Directory Screencast

Right.  We do plan to add some additional info and possibly a drop-down box for the video description.  At the same time we're trying to avoid too much clutter of the listing page.

Re: Directory Screencast

Very nice sir, very nice indeed!

I'm assuming there will be an option to view the films in the directory based on certain categories; like time, rating, theme, etc.

Cheers!

Re: Directory Screencast

Looks really good.  Sorry, this is probably the fourth time I've asked this, but I still don't understand.  Will any film be able to get in the directory?  For example, a really bad seven-year-old's 1 FPS Star Wars movie?

Re: Directory Screencast

mini/eek Amazing. Kudos to you guys for all your hard work. I can't wait for the day you finally bring it all home.

I won't name names, but BertL is a good example of this.  - Sméagol

If there will be a review panel (and from the OP comments, I would assume there will be) then it is quite unlikely that such films would be added.

Edit: On a totally unrelated note, your voice sounds nothing like I expected. I don't know why, since I've seen a couple of your films. I'll be quiet now...

Edit 2: Do we really need an "hour" option for film length? I'm also really liking the built-in Content Advisory.

Re: Directory Screencast

Just great. I love it; its simple and straightforward. Great job on this Sloth mini/bigsmile
Love the add to the forum thing at the end.

Re: Directory Screencast

Yeah, don't worry about quality control, we have that taken care of.

There are some brickfilms over an hour long, it's rare but I don't think that means we should eliminate the option for it.

Re: Directory Screencast

Is there a "back" button? I wasn't looking for it when watching the video, but I was filling out a form elsewhere and it had no back button and it was annoying because I had to start all over again.

Insert amusing sig here.

Re: Directory Screencast

there is a back button on every step, if you submit the form with any required details missing it gives you a back button that jumps to the correct page without loosing any information you submitted.

Sweeeet. It looks really nice and organized... and easy. I'm happy about the progress you are making in such a short amount of time! Haha, or maybe it's normal and I'm just not used to it.
