Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread
You might want to take some more time on it. The color scheme is all over the place and the cockpit is very out of proportion from the rest of the ship.

Hey guys. I'm partway through my building of a Lego apartment. In the first portion of the build, where the tanned floor is, is the lounge-room. Behind the lounge-room is the kitchen. The reason as to why I've made this topic is because I don't feel that this looks right, and it isn't fully furnished yet (obviously). I still need to buy some items online such as a stove, fridge, proper couch etc. This is just a draft. But I don't feel comfortable with it, and therefor want to know what other people think about it. And yes, I'm going to be using this for a brickfilm
Thanks,
-Shadow
EDIT:
I don't know how to post images, so I'll just send a link to the photos on flickr. Also, please leave your feedback down below, not on flickr.

That's looking pretty good for a start, I especially like the way you've built the table There are a coupla things that I can think of that you might find useful, I know you already said that you are going to get other furnishings and that'll certainly give the room more life! But you might also want to think about possibly printing off, or making a few small paintings to go on the walls? Add a bit of personality that reflects what the minifig living there is going to be like (Bit like a real apartment would be)
Also you may or may not want to look at the colours depending on what sort of character is living there, I think the colours look good and they mix well together so there are no problems there, but the tertiary colours are quite not dull per se but they're not too eye catching. If this is the connotation you want to give to the audience then it works great! and don't get me wrong it is a good looking set so far Looking forward to seeing what you do with it
Thanks man! Yeah, the colours aren't to spectacular, but I think they're alright for the mood of the room. Anyways, thanks again man for your feedback! I appreciate it!

I accidently posted a second post, sorry...
Hey, is that for the Mason and Diploma episode I'm writing for you?
I didn't know they lived in an apartment together.
I think there needs to be some cabinets over that kitchen counter. Also, try using a 4x4 plate for the tabletop.
Oh, and most of us call it a "living room" instead of a "lounge-room". That's why I didn't get that they were in an apartment.
Here's an apartment set I built. I was pretty limited for pieces, but I think it came out fairly well.
Not bad, but usually in an apartment the floor of the kitchen is usually different than that of the other room(s), and sometimes there is a wall in-between the rooms. Also that TV doesn't look very good in my opinion, I'd do something more "sleek." And (if possible) add some slopes and more of a back to the corner couch.

Not in bedsits. There are tons of one room flats out there, especially in low wealth areas.
I tried my best to make it look like a reasonably upmarket place, but unfortunately I don't really have all the necessary pieces to make it look just right
Judging from the looks of the table, Sam, I'd say someone's just robbed a bank.
Is that a lift? If so, very nice job.
Yes indeedy. Tweaking it a little bit, but that's essentially as it will appear in the film.
It could probably do with a button or two on the outside wall.
Hence the tweaks
So this is a major work-in-progress (not even close to completion), and I know that most of you hate Batman videos with a passion (though I don't quite understand why), but here are some pictures of where I'm at with a set for a short TDKR-based animation I'm working on.
As I said, I've still got loads to do (the backdrop, sewer pipes, ceiling, walls, etc) but this is what I got done today. I'm pretty limited in terms of what I can build, since I don't have that many of each colour of brick. I might, at some point in the near future, just buy lots of bags of bricks, but for now, I'm going to have to make do with cardboard.
The animation itself won't be a scene from the movie. It'll be meant to look like a scene from the movie, but it won't actually be, if that makes any sense.
That's a pretty nice bridge thingy.
I'm okay with bat movies (I am making one after all) so long as they're executed nicely, and you've already done a nice set there.
All it needs is some really good background and lighting. Since that's way too big for something brick built, unless you have a massive collection, it would probably best to have some backdrop either printed or painted, then make sure that it's not in focus.
