The Red Brick

The Red Brick on YouTube

Someone found a mysterious red brick that has the ability to change form, will he defeat it ?

That movie was made for my school, with the help of two of my friends. For that reason, the quality of the image isn't like in my other brickfilms, we had a really bad camera.

Re: The Red Brick

The animation was smooth, and the camera movements were very realistic. The clay was interesting, I wasn't sure if it was blood or brick-goo at times, but I guess it wasn't too bad. The story idea has been done before, but it was still unique and creative. mini/smile

Keep up the good work!

Re: The Red Brick

This has a great playful quality that I don't see so much these days. I liked the physics on the kick at the start and on the block wobbling around. Your use of clay was nice, especially when the man went through the bricks. The camera was a bit shaky but I'm guessing that's not a regular problem since you mentioned having to use a bad camera. Great video and I'm hoping to see more!

Re: The Red Brick

To answer, I think it was Brick Goo and not blood.  (I never thought I'd ever type such a sentence.)  The contrast was very high, but I remember you saying that camera limitations were beyond your control.  I was very entertained by this film.  I don't think there is a way to defeat the brick, except using some form of resistance instead of hostility.  I loved how many of the sound effects were made by mouth!  They were light and funny and added to the whimsical nature of the cartoon.  The only 2 things I would have changed: 1)

when the red brick takes on human form, I would have tried to make the guy as red as possible.

  2) The end theme didn't seem to relate at all to the song.  I would have used an instrumental such as this song (or written my own):

I love brick films of an abstract nature, and this one is no exception!

Re: The Red Brick

Thank you all for the feedback !

I know the song at the end doesn't relate to the film, when editing, I talked about it with my friend but he really wanted to use this one, since it was a group project for my school I had to let the other persons of the group make choices too.
And yes, it was brick-goo, even if it can be confused with blood. mini/smile

By the way, the idea of making the minifigure as red as possible is very good, I'll tell my friend about it since we're making a sequel to this for next summer.
