Topic: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

So I'm making a short fighting movie based on the "Bourne" Trilogy, and i was wondering how to get the camera to follow the action smoothly. I will give some examples here:

Keshen8's "One Shot" (Best Example at 0:53-0:55) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2ZHfh5jQt8

Keshen8's "Lego Ultimatum" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdnWd0hH … re=channel

Please Help me.

(P.S: Can you tell who's videos i watch? mini/tongue)

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

Ha, Do you have after effects? Because if you do, you can easily add a shake to your clips.

Or you could try animating your camera as well as the mini-figs.

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

He most likely took certain walls off of the set for shots to make them smoother, and most likely had a small camera to fit within the set. Another way you could make a camera pan could be using some kind of software, but I don't know it well enough to explain in detail.

I need help on this, too. I tried moving the camera around but it turned out like my old...shaky...crappy...videos. mini/sad

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

Do you have Vegas or AE, Travis?

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

I would like to see an answer on this, too. I asked myself the same questions many times.
I know you can add a shaky-cam effect during animating, by moving the cam. But I actually think it's very hard to get a good result with that. Not least because I'm not using a webcam, but a Canon EOS, and with that it's not nice to do stuff like that.
I would like to shoot the footage, and then add the effect in post-pro. I know AfterEffects can handle that- but hey, not everyone (including me) owns that.
So, is there any other program (maybe even freeware?!) you could do that with?

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

I believe that Keshen8 did all the shaky-cam work in camera, I'm not sure what kind of camera he has to facilitate this.  It'd be more difficult but would probably look a little more convincing if done well.

No I have Windows Movie Maker. Yes I know, it SUCKS! Lol, I hope to get Vegas. AE is very expensive, I hear... mini/sad

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

You could do it in Vegas or even Axogon, but it would mean animating every shake by hand. AE is a much better option.

How much money is it?

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

Much. But there's always a different way mini/wink

Okay. What's Axagon/is it free? mini/confused

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

Here's a test I did using final cut express.

This took quite a while I must say. I would not suggest KeyFraming every moment in the shot to make the shaky cam effect, but if that's the only way... that'll drive you nuts.

Srsly, guys, is there another way, using AE? I need to know myself.:P

Yes there is another way, and that way will be used in my new video, wich is in pre-production mini/wink

Re: Shaky Camera Fight Scenes?

For those who want to do it themselves rather than be forced to wait for T.G.-Tom, the method is the one Filmyguy presented. Blow the scale of your clip up to 105% or so, then set keyframes for the clip's position every two or three frames. Move the frame slightly off from center in a random direction at each of the keyframes. This is time-consuming, but it will result in a shaky effect.
