Re: What was the FIRST lego set you got?
When I was a kid I was always confused by people who never took there LEGO sets apart.
no kidding! I have never been able to keep an actual set built for more than a week or so...

When I get a new set, I always build it once, and then take it apart immediately to build something on my own with the new parts.

LOL I'm one of those kids. It actually drives me nuts if I keep a set apart.
anyway...
That was my first set. I was 6 at the time, I built it in 10 minutes.
I had a police set
now i took that apart
My first set was a creator sea animals set-i was 4.My second was a ferrarri-when i was 5.

I don't necessarily remember.... but I know it was some time in 2003-ish.
It wasn't my first set-but it was the first set I remember thinking-I'm going to play with this toy for the rest of my life. I had gotten some sets when I was younger but they went into a metal tin and I threw away the instructions. From set 715 on I kept all instructions.
715 Basic Building Set
Even in fifth grade I used to save up my lunch money for the week and buy "dime bags" from my friends. These usually consisted of a few pirates/imperial soldiers and random lot of pieces. It was so much fun I don't remember missing the whole eating part. Of course, calling them what we did gave them an air of secrecy and naughtiness. Of course I paid for them under the table and had the baggies placed in my hand while we both looked around suspiciously. Good fun.

My first set was some aqua raiders set
not really sure but one of these three

i think some of these sets were better made then some of the ones today
i thinkmost of these sets were better made then all of the ones today
Fixed.
I agree, the classic sets were better than what they have today.
Not only that, but BIONICLE was good in 2001-2003,but then it started going downhill from there.
And yes,a lot of sets today are terrible.
