Who's On First Base

I've always wanted to make this funny scene from 1945 in LEGO. And now I have!

HINT: The guy on first base name is "Who"

Nice animation. mini/smile  There was some light flicker and set bumps but overall it was a good job.

I can feel your pain lol. But then also, when I am fixing the black and white effect in sony Vegas and some more contrast effects it makes the lighting change each day I am animating.

Re: Who's On First Base

I really enjoyed this.

I have always loved this joke, though it can get a little annoying...still great amimation. And there are a few set bumps with light problems, but they aren't that bad.

Re: Who's On First Base

nice good job.

Re: Who's On First Base

It was a bit boring to watch - just two LEGO people raising their arms. They didn't really act like they were saying what they were saying. If they're getting angry at each other, then they wouldn't just be raising their arms, they'd be waving their arms around and flailing around.

Re: Who's On First Base

mini/lol Who's on first? Whos's on first? Thats what i'm asking you!

Re: Who's On First Base

Meh. It seems very minimal effort was put into this video. After one minute of watching, it gets extremely old. Try to throw in some more interesting movements to keep the audience interested.

Overall though, the animation was pretty good.

Re: Who's On First Base

Haha, I did this skit for my 4th grade talent show. Anyways, the animation was pretty good, but boring. But that's already been covered mini/tongue

Re: Who's On First Base

It was fun to see this classic routine done in Lego, but I do agree that MUCH more movement was needed.  At times it was hard to tell which character was even talking.

Re: Who's On First Base

I can't believe this skit still makes me laugh.  I think it's funniest at the beginning.  By the end, it gets more complicated, harder to follow, and starts to just get annoying, like an SNL skit that kept going a little too long.

As for the animation, I find that animating dialog in an interesting way is extremely challenging.  I'm curious: Did you try to animate it to match the original skit?

A couple suggestions:
1) Try to ease in an out of movements.  To me, it looked like the movements were constant speeds rather than starting out slow, speeding up, and then slowing down as the motion ends, like real bodies move in real life.

2) With only the 1 over head light, their faces are always under the shadows of their hats.  If you don't want to add another light, you can use white index cards angled at 45 degrees and set out of frame to reflect some of the over head light back up and at their faces.

Otherwise, nice job.
