Topic: Chroma Key Challenge

This is the new version of this thread. I have changed the rules a bit.

RULES

  • 1. No judges, the only one who can judge, is the person who wins the round.

  • 2. Max of three entries per round. There is no max amount of times you can enter the challenge

  • 3. People will have only one week to post their frames.

  • 4. If the winner does not post a theme within 24 hours, anyone can take it.

  • 5. The picture MUST be made specifically for the challenge.

What Happens
The winner of the round will say the theme first. Entrants have 1 week to post their frame. The winner will then judge their frames. The winner of the round gets to make the theme, and is the judge of the round, the winner of that round will make a new theme, and judge, etc. etc.

The winner of the last round was Bluescreener Studios, so he gets to make the theme.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

Sorry, I didn't realize this thread replaced the other one. mini/blankexpression

Okay, the theme is: "Army of Thousands". Simply put, you all must create a massive army. This is a commonly needed skill, especially when you don't have enough minifigs to create a decent crowd.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

How will this fit with Chroma keying?

*FACEPALM* It's not...that hard...to figure out... mini/wink

Just kidding, you can chroma key in a whole bunch of people, or just chroma key in a background, or something like that.

On a different note, I got my idea and am practically done building the set! mini/bigsmile  In my opinion, it's pretty origional for an army of thousands.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

I'll say it again but you kids seem completely incapable of even realising this; masking and chroma key are two different things.

And I'd suggest using a short clip 2-3 seconds long to actually test out your chroma keying skills properly, becuase not many brickfilms I've seen have only one frame that has been keyed.

THANK-A-YOU.

Persist.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

...

I changed it. I guess masking really defeats the purpose of a chroma-keying contest.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

I hate to say it, but I have to: who's going to stop everyone from masking?

First of all, if you actually are makeing a brickfilm, you'll want to do what looks best, not what makes it seem more fair.

Second, how could you prove that they masked? It's not possible unless you watch them do it over their shoulder, and that's not possible, seeing as we're spread out all over the world.

Thridly, what about the built-in rotoscoper in Cinegobs? It's meant only to help with the greenscreening, not to make the entire shot masked.

Sorry to say, but there dosen't seem to be a way to really prevent anyone from masking.

If you're cheating, you're only cheating yourself.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

Yes, but besides being a question of morales, people aren't going to not mask just because they're not putting as much true-ness into it. If you wanted your movie to look as good as possible, you wouldn't not mask just because then you'd have to either have a worse greenscreen or re-shoot the entire scene with the greenscreen for a more even greenscreen.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

I removed the rule completely. I'm not saying masking is okay, and I'm not saying it's not okay either.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

That sounds best in my opinion. Good call. mini/smile

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

Original picture I did cut out the background cause I thought it wouldn't be necessary and replaced it with white color.

Made all with Sony Vegas.

I know what you think: wait a sec tiz no army of tauzens
It's your opinion, but this theme was "Army of Thousands".
It didn't literally ask you to make it.

EDIT: After making all this and writing all that stuff I over-checked what was the task and
I'm not so sure what I wrote earlier /\ is so true after all.                mini/sweat And if my picture goes through.

You'll probably pass. You could just say there's a thousand people in each one. mini/wink

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

LegoLuke you did a good job removing the blue, but it could be easier if you keep the blue and the ship separated so that there is no shadows on the blue then the blue will be brighter and more contrasting making it easier to remove it. But other than that the separation of the blue itself is good. However the background image you chose isn't that good. I suggest you frame the ship better and put it on a more '3D' image. But like I said it's a good go.

Re: Chroma Key Challenge

I couldn't motivate myself to get past the set building, so yes, I think he won. Are there any others though?
