hi,
I need help with the hologram effect as in star wars. I'll make a star wars movie and I must have the hologram in the first stage.
there are some out there who could give me some tips?
There is probably a program for it, mabye Gimp or something but I don't know what it does.
I could try this out. I recommend you get a blue screen. Blue screen this person in if you have something like SOny Vegas, position him and then add bright blue colour correction and then put a sort of broken TV effect on (Forget what it's called). If I get it done I'll post it here.

If you need the effect done, I use after effects CS5, and I can make a hologram today so you can see my work.
Create a 50% transparent blue CGI minifig and overlay it on your video.
Here is my test.
I know the animation's a little fast, but I was focusing on the effect.

Star wars did it by having the character stand behind a black expanse while filming Import the clip into Wax 2.0 and drag a quick 3d plugin to it. Then set the layer mode to screen and make some more adjustments to make it glow and stuff.

It's helpful for other members who come along later if people update old threads with pertinent information. It's less helpful when people update them with erroneous "don't bump threads" advice.
animate the Minifig to a green screen, then cut the background in photoshop(or something like it)
then after you have done the animation for the scene where they use the Hologram place the image stream of the hologram over it, resize and place it, change the hue(or you could do a blue overlay for the figure earlier in Photoshop) then make the transparency. and Bob's your uncle.
