Topic: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean

Well, as we all know, the LEGO Pirates line was cancelled earlier this year. What you may or may not know is that it's being replaced with a new line: Pirates of the Caribbean.

That, however, isn't news. This is news. Specifically, it's descriptions of the various sets that will be available.

I know a lot of people around here were rather put-off when rumors of this line emerged. What do you think now? In my opinion, even if the movie sucks, these sound like great sets.

Why? The pirates line was a classic, and the last POTC film was two-and-a-half years ago. It's passé!

New Pirates of the Caribbean film is set to be released in May of next year. It makes sense that LEGO would make these sets since LEGO still has a Disney license and Pirates of the Caribbean is a Disney film.

I'm actually excited for these. I'm a big fan of the pirates line and it was sad to see it go, but I think there are a lot of possibilities with PotC. For building purposes at least.

Number four comes out next year. Also, I guess cancelled isn't really the right word to use.

This has the chance to be a good theme. However I am afraid that this will simply be another licensed theme that turns out rather mediocre sets.

I suppose like with Star Wars, they'll go back and make sets for the first 3, if there's demand for that.

I'd rather have LEGO pirates back than LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean.
It just seems a bit too over the top.  LEGO should just make their own themes.
They've already had countless movie - LEGO sets(Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman, Spiderman, Superman, Prince of Persia).

So here's the thing, I've A: Lost interest, and B: have no time to animate anymore. Expect little from me in the future. WIP projects have been pretty much abandoned and my LEGO collection is boxed up. No, you can't have it. mini/tongue But do not fear, I may return to it one day.

Who wants pictures that you can actually see of the new POTC sets? Cuz they're right here.
Sets don't look all that bad, piece-wise. But I am disappointed in how they made the minfigs; you can't get Jack's hat without the hair flowing down from it mini/confused But on the bright side, bottles and real buckets! mini/bigsmile

Everything in those sets look great exept for the minifigures. I'm definately buying the Black Pearl, or whatever it's called.
