Re: Review Panel Reform

I think the Review Panel is done. However I would like to see it rebooted, but I don't think adding new members to it would do the trick. The quality of reviews was quite good, and I wouldn't want to see all of that be risked with seeing more films reviewed, at a lower quality. I know that some staff members have said, "Members get plenty of reviews on their films by other forum members." But I think it'd be really cool to see the Panel rebooted, I thought it was really nice being able to see the better films on this site having their own reviews done by "good amateurs." Anyways, it'd be nice to see the panel back.

Re: Review Panel Reform

I'm noticing that there are a few new films approved for the site that have apparently been released on no days of no months in the year two thousand exactly... or no year at all. Also, shouldn't Explosive Sh** 2 have a censored title, to keep this site family-friendly? I know the members should be 13+, but anyone, visitors or otherwise, can see the Films section.

Re: Review Panel Reform

@Genzarata The film was reported, and a MOD gave it a MOD edit, so I think it should be just fine, because the actual title on BiM is censored mini/wink.

Re: Review Panel Reform

The title on the thread itself is censored, but the title in the Films section isn't unless my computer is acting up (again).

It's not you, it's just not censored.

Re: Review Panel Reform

Yeah, it wasn't censored in the directory. I just removed it, but the cache won't take effect for a little bit yet. We're in the process of bypassing the old review panel system to make way for a new reviews blog that's replacing it. Getting films submitted that have profanity in the title is pretty rare so we weren't really prepared for that.

Re: Review Panel Reform

So, what is with all films from "Releases" being moved to "Directory" without being judged?

Re: Review Panel Reform

The review panel has been unable to come anywhere near keeping up with the number of films we get submitted, we were almost a year behind on the queue. I don't want to loosen the standards for review panel members and have a massive review panel to keep up with the submissions because that's really not any better than forum feedback anyway, and it's impractical. The only option left, then, was to start allowing films to show up publicly as they are submitted. We will still be reviewing films, but it will be in greater depth via a blog, and we won't aim to review such a high percentage.

Okay, that sounds good.
