Re: Tales of Easter: The Complete Collection

Despite being a bit offensive it was great. I felt guilty laughing a few times, but did so all the same. I liked the one with the bunny especially, and the one you entered into the competition.

I must say I am getting to love this 15 second brickfilms. I think the idea was great (Thanks Hazzat), and it's made for some great brickfilms with cleverly placed jokes, like this film(s) in particular.

Seriously, I'm getting really tired of people mocking Christianity. You don't see brickfilms mocking Judiasm or Islam, do you? Then I don't understand why people think it's funny to rip on what others believe.

1. Directly mocking a religion that's not from my own culture (I'm an agnostic - so I'm open to all religions) would make me a racist.

2. Its not 'Mocking'. If I wanted to 'Mock', I would be much more offensive. This is merely light-hearted 'satire' - its more making fun of stuff like "Why do people have chocolate eggs to celebrate the resurrection of Christ?" (and I know the answer - but it always felt like a made-up excuse to eat chocolate). Like 'The Life of Brian', its more mocking how people interpret and follow the religion rather than the actual religion.

In addition, the humour is that this all could have happened. I bet you in a thousand years time people will believe that Chuck Norris was a god - because someone will uncover all these 'facts' and think they are true (actually...that's given me a really good idea for a brickfilm....). Jesus COULD have been black, Jesus COULD have tried to get a date (and no, I'm not saying that he was driven by lust. But, he might have just wanted someone to look after him, or was just lonely. Sometimes people try to attract a mate because they are friendless - not just for sex), and Jesus COULD have worn women's clothing (you are stupid if you think only homosexuals like to cross-dress).

3. None of this is serious. Its LEGO for gods sakes! I'm already breathing too deeply into this, but its all completely tongue-in-cheek. I'm not trying to make a statement or offend anyone - I would just post a rant if I wanted to do that. Its just a more mature state of mind....

Re: Tales of Easter: The Complete Collection

While I can appreciate a good joke as much as the next person, and I often find Max’s comments on the forums very entertaining, this is not one of those times.  First of all, the Christian population in Britain is rapidly declining and the Muslim population has risen 10 times faster than the rest of society, so it is very much a part of the culture, so why aren’t people poking fun at Mohammed?  That would take some real courage.  I doubt if the Muslims would consider a cross-dressing Mohammed just light-hearted satire, especially if the film was posted on one of their major feast days.

Good for you, Juggernaut Pictures, for defending your faith.  Christianity-bashing has become the “last acceptable prejudice” in society, and until Christians have the guts to stand up for themselves it will continue to be that way.

Re: Tales of Easter: The Complete Collection

I, too, am a Christian and completely agree with Brick7 and JP. Now I'm not turnng chicken and not standing up for my faith, but we shouldn't be carrying on about this:

Agreed, let's keep this thread for critiquing his film.

Re: Tales of Easter: The Complete Collection

To be honest, I was going to skip over this, but once I saw people getting offended... well, I couldn't help but get interested.

Some of the skits were a bit bland, but others were very funny. Jesus in a bikini was pretty amusing. I also enjoyed the Easter Bunny and 'Bright Side of Life' segments. I'd say overall the collection was decent, but it could have been much stronger if some of the less inspired pieces were removed.

FYI, Easter celebrates Jesus rising from the dead, not him being born. mini/tongue

Some of these jokes were pretty funny. Although I'm a Christian, I didn't really find these jokes offensive, except for the one with Jesus in a bikini, which wasn't really offensive either considering that it's just a LEGO character that looks not so much like Jesus, but more like Qui Gon Jinn with your voice.

The animation was not your best (yes you have done better), but you did a good job writing the jokes.

Yeah, I will admit that I was trying to pad out the series. Also, a lot of this was rushed since I had only a day to script, shoot, and edit (top tip: If you are busy with school-work/exams/both, just take one day off and release your work over a four week period to maintain your activity).

Pretty much sums up my argument. I apologise if this did offend anyone, but I stand by my previous arguments.

There is one word..

One word for this film, this thread, and this community.

And it is...

LOL!

EL OH EL.

The video was hilarious, my favourite being "Good Friday", and the discussion was the icing on the cake.

I believe in God, but I still found this funny.

Anyone who didn't clearly missed the point.

Re: Tales of Easter: The Complete Collection

I wasn't so much offended as I was bored. I thought the first sketch was amusing, mostly due to some funny voice acting, but the rest just didn't tickle my fancy. I guess you need stronger punchlines, or something. Also, you really oughta do something different with voices, probably recruiting other people. The children voices in the Easter Bunny short made me cringe. So, sure, that's a lot of criticism, but I think you can do better.

Plus, I've got a policy of automatically disliking anything to do with Rocky Horror Picture Show, so there's that.

Re: Tales of Easter: The Complete Collection

My experience with voice actors is poor. Casting calls usually yield only a few really awful test-lines. The only way I can get good voice-actors is to personally PM them. This has has some effect (I feel really sorry for all the great actors who voiced my TOY entry - only to have it abandoned due to lack of time and set-designs which I couldn't possibly afford) but quite often people do not respond. To ask a group of people to voice act within a day would be ludicrous - and I probably wouldn't have been able to make these.

The children's voices were meant to be deliberately bad - as was the gratuitous Tarantino gore.
