Topic: Bim Community Project

We've all seen the classic Brickfilms.com Community projects like Cleaning Time and The Day Brickfilms.com Crashed, right. So my question is, why haven't we made one on Bim? I think it would be a very cool thing to do.

"The Day Bricks in Motion crashed" seems like a great idea.

I believe many people in the past of BiM have attempted to create a community project, and many agreed and thought it was a great idea, but as time dragged on, many people dropped out. It was fun while it lasted.

Re: Bim Community Project

I've always wanted to do something like that...

This could be because they tried to make to big of a project to quickly. We should start with something small, then work our way up.

Re: Bim Community Project

I would love to do something like this as well.

however I just thought about how This Site has a whole bunch of different Members
all of them have a different animation style and Frame rate
I think one of the best part of animations like "Cleaning time" is that the animation looked like it was all done by the same animators
usily you wouldn't care about this. I'm sure that if you put a scene made by Filmyguy it next to a scene made by NXT Maniac it would look just fine
However If you put a scene made by Stan The Lego Man next to a more armature animator like myself, cooldynamitepictures or even LASF you would be able to see a difference in the frame rate, smoothness and "look and feal" of the videos.

just a thought. I still want to do something like this. mini/smile

Coyote Creek Films did not intend and hopes he didn't insult anyone in this post

Re: Bim Community Project

There's been many attempts, but they never work.

But try to do one, it might be successful!

Re: Bim Community Project

I had an idea for one. It would basically be a movie with morals, very obvious ones. Like don't drink and drive, then show this guy ending up in a particularly bad situation with a bit of slapstick humor because he did not follow said moral. And just assign loads of people to execute different morals in what ever humorous way they wish.

I've never tried to start it though, may make the film myself one day. But I thought it was a funny idea.

Re: Bim Community Project

I think we could do something like this and I think seeing the different styles of animation would be cool. If you think the that having different styles is a problem then you could assign justkidden, and other cartoony animators in one group and kinz with other horror animators in one group.

Re: Bim Community Project

In order for a community project to work, the contributors must be 100% devoted.  Life commitments and hold ups on story/plot development results in people losing interest.

Good luck.

Re: Bim Community Project

Though, there would surely be a great deal of problems with community projects; like there would probably be a really really bad continuity problem.

Most animators use different animation styles, have different camera looks, different lighting, set design style and such. Usually, from film to film, you don't really pay much attention to such differences, but in the same film, it would just look kind of weird.

Re: Bim Community Project

I commit! I think it is a great idea!

Re: Bim Community Project

You guys could try resurrecting an old project, there are 2 or 3 of them cluttering up the boards right now.

I think that's part of the charm. Plot-based community projects (like Cleaning Time tend not to look so good because of this.

Here's a few old comprods (as I like to call them):

If you're looking to revive an old project, the last one (Boom Di Yata) would be the best. It has the perfect formula for  a community project.

Ya, if you ask me, the summer would be the best time to do one of these. Since everyone is off school, its more likelty they will be devoted to the project

EDIT: By the way, you see that thread The Day Brickfilmers Rebelled right? What do they mean by "The Split"? Sorry if this sounds ignorant.

Re: Bim Community Project

It was when everyone left Brickfilms.com to come and join Bricksinmotion.com. I think it's a bad idea to make a brickfilm about that, but I only included it for the sake of making a little list of community projects that never happened.

Wasn't there also one called "Late for work"? What happened to that?
I remember I really did wanted to participate to one of these projects, but I think I wouldn't be able to be part of one now. If you're gonna start one, good luck then... I may help during holidays if it really interests me.

Re: Bim Community Project

Late for Work kind of died after I took over it. We weren't getting much in the way of quality applications and most of the people who had signed up previously completely missed their deadlines. I think we wound up with three clips total.

Re: Bim Community Project

Most community projects that have been organized have had very good ideas and a unique storyline, and overall, they're fun to do.  But as many have mentioned, it's about how motivated the participants are.  Personally, I'd love to do revive an old project (Boom di yata mini/smile  ) only if the people interested seem 100% devoted and not backing out at the last minute.

Well, personally, I live by the saying You can make a good movie out of anything as long as some hard work is put into it.
