What's in a LEGO Brick?

YouTube (HD)

A short commercial I made for a LEGO commercial contest. I didn't win anything, but I thought I'd let you folks see it.

Pretty fantastic Smeagol, I'm very impressed even by your standards.

I just personally didn't like the beginning and ending shots, I didn't find them to be all that well done. But the concept is really nice. Besides that, the only other thing I wasn't too fond of was the music.

But my God, everything else was brilliant.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

Your best brickfilm EVER Smeagol. You should get a medal! Or some cake...

I do not care about your opinion, unless it has to do with it needing more ponies.

Really nice piece of work, Smeagol. Shame it didn't win.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

Pretty good, but not your best. I more like Unrenewable mini/smile

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

Unrenewable is the best film I know. If this was better than Unrenewable, it would be the best brickfilm to date. Great job smeagol, your films are always great.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

Unrenewable is a great film, but certainly not the best.
The Citizen of The Year is the best brickfilm ever. ;D

Anyway, I really loved this. It's amazing. Shame it didn't get placed. mini/sad

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

I love it!  How long did it take to make?

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

A bit under three weeks in all, I guess.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

That was great Smeagol, probably one of your best. Though the first and last shots seemed very..old... It didn't really fit in with the rest of he commercial IMO. Great job otherwise.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

Why this didn't win I have no ideas. The mix of CGI and LEGO are the best I've seen. If this was an entry to Avant-Garde I would say it could possibly win depending on the quality of entries yet to come.

Fantastic though, truly it is. Oh, and Robota and The Gauntlet are the best Brickfilms EVAH... in my opinion. mini/cat

Legging it.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

wow, that was awesome. The CGI looks very real.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

yeah -  VERY excellent, but the only problem was that weird man in the beginning and end... creepy.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

That would be hilarious if that was Smeagol's dad mini/tongue

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

Naw, he is the kids' actual father.

Not a relative, though.

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

he had a weird smile at the end. Great job on the animation stuff though

Re: What's in a LEGO Brick?

I feel like the only one to not be blown away by this film. Don't get me wrong, it was mostly very good, but certain aspects like the underwhelming sound, unconvincing compositing and corny soundtrack and live action scenes just spoilt it in my opinion. Plus one very obvious CGI fault (the ship flies through the mountain). I think people suggesting that this is the best brickfilm ever must be kidding themselves, although it certainly wasn't bad.
